Song of Summer

Chainlea

I was playing with shapes the other day to see if I could come up with a new tangle...not sure if this has already been done, but I'm calling it "Chainlea" because it kinda reminds me of a chain and a leaf.

New Fairy Tangle ACEO - Silver Whispers

I was going to do this one in all color pencil, but then I liked the way the black and white was looking with the color, so decided to do the shading of the tangles in graphite...I think it works, do you?

"Silver Whispers" is 2.5 x by 3.5 inches and is draw with Prismacolor pencil, micron pen and graphite.

New Year's Cardinal

New Year's Cardinal - finished this one on New Year's Day.

5x5 inches, Prismacolor pencil, on Color-Fix treated art board and touched with a bit of turpentine to "melt" the color pencil. I'm having too much fun seeing what the turpentine does to the pencil - I can see lots of possibilities to playing with this technique.

Hummingbird's Flight

Finally a new drawing...a touch of summer on this winter's day...dreaming of hummingbirds - This little ruby-throated humming bird is drawn with Prismacolor pencils on art board treated with Color-Fix then touched with a bit of turpentine to "melt" the color pencil. "Hummingbird's Flight" is 5x5 inches.

Here's another ACEO...Graphite and Micron pen on Stonehenge paper, 2.5x3.5 inches. I'm enjoying this technique of combining the graphite with the Micron pens...I think it give the piece a soft look. Need to think of a Name for this one....
